    "description": "On September 1, 2008, Hurricane Gustav made landfall 70 miles southwest of New Orleans as a category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 110 miles per hour. Gustav moved inland across south-central Louisiana and dropped to tropical storm status on the evening of September 1. An estimated 1.9 million Louisiana residents evacuated from Southeastern Louisiana in preparation for Hurricane Gustav in anticipation of significant storm flooding. Heavy rainfall was seen in the greater Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas (NWS n.d.a). The period of September 1 to September 10, 2008, was modeled in HEC-RAS. Hurricane Gustav was a tropical event with a short storm duration.",
