LWI Region 5 Mermentau Headwaters - HEC-RAS Simulation: May 2017 Calibration

In May 2017, Southwest Louisiana and Texas experienced a non-tropical event with a short storm duration that contained several supercell thunderstorms. These thunderstorms produced 8 to 10+ inches of rainfall over a very short period and produced large hail. The heavy rainfall resulted in flash flooding across Louisiana with Calcasieu and Jefferson Davis Parishes being the most impacted (NWS n.d.e). This is the May 2017 Calibration Flood Run for the Mermentau Headwaters HEC-RAS 2D model. The hydrology for this event is derived from HEC-HMS model developed by HDR for Mermentau Headwaters region.
